The role played by key cytokines in eliciting the cellular response to trauma was assessed. The results of the specific immunopathogenetic interaction between the nervous and immune systems in the immediate and chronic post-traumatic periods are summarized. It was demonstrated that it is reasonable to use the step-by-step approach to the assessment of the cytokine profile after a spinal cord injury and take into account the combination of the pathogenetic and protective components in implementing the regulatory effects of individual cytokines and their integration into the regenerative processes in the injured spinal cord. This allows one to rationally organize treatment and develop novel drugs.</p></abstract><trans-abstract xml:lang="ru"><p>Обобщены результаты экспериментальных исследований последних лет, посвященных изучению цитокинового профиля при травме спинного мозга. Проанализирована роль ведущих цитокинов в формировании клеточного ответа на травму. Рассмотрены данные иммунопатогенетических особенностей взаимодействия нервной и иммунной систем организма в остром и хроническом периодах после травмы. Показана целесообразность поэтапного подхода к оценке цитокинового профиля при травме спинного мозга, а также необходимость учета сочетания патогенетического и протективного компонентов в реализации регуляторных эффектов отдельных цитокинов, их интеграции в регенеративные процессы в поврежденном спинном мозге, что позволяет рационально подойти к организации лечебного процесса и разработке новых лекарственных препаратов.</p></trans-abstract><kwd-group xml:lang="en"><kwd>Spinal cord injury</kwd><kwd>cytokines</kwd><kwd>cellular response</kwd></kwd-group><kwd-group xml:lang="ru"><kwd>травма спинного мозга</kwd><kwd>цитокины</kwd><kwd>клеточный ответ</kwd></kwd-group><funding-group/></article-meta></front><body></body><back><ref-list><ref id="B1"><label>1.</label><mixed-citation>Karsy M., Hawryluk G. // Neurosurg.
